MotoGP, Catalunya: Nolan Group riders emerge in the brawl
Difficult race in Montmelo. A lot of tension in all classes and lots of brawl starting from Moto3. Yet the Nolan Group riders remained cold and were able to manage their race in each occasion.
Great performance for Danilo Petrucci, third on the podium for the third consecutive time, and also good Alex Rins, fourth with an eye to the championship that sees him more and more protagonist.
In Moto2, excellent performance by Enea Bastianini, very fast and fifth at the finish line, while in Moto3, Aron canet, second at the end, is confirmed leader of the general standing.
And now? Now Assen, TT, in the hope of having a cooler temperature … and another satisfying weekend for our guys.
Danilo Petrucci THIRD
“I’m very happy with this podium. For sure, without the incident during the second lap it would have been harder to seize this result and I’m very sorry for Andrea, who lost a great chance to shine today. I tried to stay with Márquez but it wasn’t possible, and Rins and Quartararo were also very fast. With Alex, we passed each other many times and once he even hit me on the right side but I was able to reclaim the position quite quickly. Then, when Fabio passed me, I just tried to stay with him and pull away from the pack. We scored the best possible result today. After three podiums in a row, we’re close to third position in the championship: we need to keep the momentum going at Assen.”
Alex Rins FOURTH
“I’m a little bit disappointed with my result because I felt I could have a really good result this weekend – but on the other hand, considering I had some problems during the race, it’s not a bad result. It was a complicated and difficult race and it was a shame to see the crash between Lorenzo and the others, especially as it gave Marquez even more of an advantage. The track was very hot, which made it hard on the tyres and I struggled with feeling, especially in the right-hand turns. Ideally I would have got a better start and gone with Marc, but in the end it wasn’t possible. Anyway, I’m quite pleased to have finished 4th despite my struggles.”
Enea Bastianini FIFTH
“What a race! I’m so happy! I started good pushing and staying with the front group. I wanted to stay with Fernandez and Navarro, but ten laps to the end I felt the front tires was over and I preferred to finish 5th!”
Aron Canet SECOND
“I started from fifth position very well, but it was a difficult race with lots of crashes and lots of riders fighting. In the end I managed to get a second position that with his twenty points is very good for the championship. At the last corner I had the chance to overcome Ramirez, but I asked myself: what do you want, try to earn twenty-five points, risking to fall or take twenty safe points? In the end I preferred to stay second. The next race will be at Assen on a circuit that I really like.”
